The first question is “What is regret?”.  Regret is a negative conscious and emotional reaction to personal past acts and behaviours. Wikipedia Definition

So if I think about that:

  1. Negative – I can do without that in my life
  2. Conscious – I chose to do it
  3. Emotional Reaction – I can control my emotions
  4. Personal past acts and behaviours – I cannot change that

If I consciously take my regret and learn from it and chose a different path to move forward I am in fact taking a negative reaction and achieving a positive outcome.
