When I was 10 years old I wanted to be a dancer.  I used to turn the music up loud and dance in the bedroom and pretend that I was on the stage with adoring fans cheering me on.

Now I am 52 and I am a Project Manager with skills in coaching, analysis, problem solving, change management, training, consulting and mentoring.

Where does the “Bedroom Disco Diva” fit into this picture?

Well apart from the occasional inner dance, when I hear music in the workplace or the local club, she is still there but generally comes out in my lounge room of a weekend.  Although I don’t have a stage and my adoring fans are now David (my partner), Buddy (my dog) and Puds (my cat).

My passion however is now taking another turn and that is coaching and being able to use the skills and experiences I have developed over my life to support people to become the best they can be.  I am excited, inquisitive and continually learning on this journey.

My point – Sometimes we get to be the “Bedroom Disco Diva”, but sometimes later in life our passion changes and the thrill is just the same.  It’s called growth, never give up on your dreams or passions this life is a journey and you are in control of where you are going and for me the “Bedroom Disco Diva” will always be part of my life.

I remember my nephew saying, when he was little, he wanted to be a “Traffic Light”….I must sit and talk to him about where he is now and how that fits in to his future.

Let me know what you wanted to be, where you have ended up and how the two are connected?  Or at least reflect, you may be surprised what you find out.
